AANP State Representative
Maria Kidner, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP of Cheyenne, is Wyoming's State Representative to the AANP. Dr. Kidner has advanced through the ranks of nursing education over her twenty years in the profession. She began her career as a nurse's aid and has now completed her education through the doctorate level. She is board-certified as a FNP (2001). As a Nurse Practitioner she has had a variety of experiences, including the development of a rural Wyoming ER for a critical care access facility, a six month medical mission in Guyana, South America, followed by three returning trips for nursing education and a mass casualty training. While in Guyana, she developed the nation’s first physical assessment class for nurses, the first prenatal class, and the nation's first mass casualty trauma training which has changed how nursing care is provided in Guyana.
Dr. Kidner was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) at a ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 24, 2011. The FAANP Program was established by the AANP in 2000 to recognize NPs who have made outstanding contributions to healthcare through education, policy, clinical practice or research. Congratulations, Maria, on your 2011 induction as an AANP Fellow.
