Colleen Butler, DNP, APRN, FNP is a Wyoming native. She graduated from Sheridan College with her ADN in 1991 and went on to get her BSN from the University of Wyoming in 1993. Her background is varied and included pediatrics, OB/Nursery and Home Care. She received her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Northern Colorado in 2000, and later returned to UNC for her DNP, graduating in 2015. Colleen’s Doctoral Capstone Project was the Essential Components of a Mentoring Program for Rural Nurse Practitioners.
She continues to focus on building APRN communities and loves to precept students. She is currently employed by the Sheridan VA Health Care System, and recently transitioned from a full time Primary Care panel to the Chief of Quality Safety and Value. She and her husband Michael have two daughters; Molly is a Freshman at Black Hills State University in Spearfish South Dakota, and Nora is a 7th grader at Sheridan Junior High School. Colleen currently serves WCAPN as its President. Her term expires this year.
